Anti-Bullying Workshop with Wild Horse Theater In-Person

Elementary school students are invited to join Wild Horse Children’s Theater and the cast of “Honk, Jr.” at the Carson City Library on Saturday, November 18 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. for an interactive anti-bullying workshop: “HONK AGAINST BULLYING”.

“Honk Jr.” is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless fairytale “The Ugly Duckling.” Like the fairytale, the musical is about an ugly duckling named Ugly, who is often teased by his peers. After running away because he is ridiculed, Ugly must not only find his way home, but also find himself.  During his journey, he meets many unique characters and finds love, acceptance and eventually, his self-esteem.

Bullying has been identified as a major concern by schools across the U.S. with 56% of students having personally witnessed some type of bullying in school.  Using songs from the show, crafts, and participatory theater games, we will safely explore the key issues of bullying.  Students will have a great time while learning valuable lessons on dealing with difficult situations whether they are being bullies or just witnessing bullying in their school or community.

To sign up for “HONK AGAINST BULLYING” go to http://carsoncitylibrary.libcal.com/event/3471031 and complete the required fields.
