Dig into summer with the Carson City Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Kick-Off Party—a fun-filled event celebrating this year’s theme, “Grow Your World.” Join us on Saturday, June 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a day packed with hands-on activities, garden-themed games, crafts, and the chance to start your Summer Reading Challenge in style!

Library staff will be dressed as cheerful gardeners donning overalls and garden hats to welcome you to this festive outdoor event that brings reading and nature together.

Event Activities:
🌱 Caterpillar Habitat & Information Room – Step into our virtual caterpillar room to observe caterpillars (virtually) up close and learn about their fascinating life cycle.
🪴 Paper Sculpture Garden – Create your own paper sculpture garden in our 
🎯 “How Do I Grow?” Toss Game – Test your knowledge about plant and animal life cycles with this fun and educational bean bag toss.
🪱 Worms in Dirt Snack Station – Enjoy a classic treat made with pudding, crushed cookies, and gummy worms—served while supplies last!
🐟 Fish Bowl Toss Game – Try your aim in this garden-themed twist on a carnival favorite—win small toy frogs as prizes!
🕵️ Guess the Object: Life Cycle Edition – Reach into mystery boxes and use your senses to guess which stage of a life cycle you're feeling.
📝 Sign-Up Station – Register for the Summer Reading Challenge, pick up your sign-up prize, and learn how to earn badges and win prizes all summer long.

Special Feature:
🥞 Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast

$10 per individual / $15 per family

Proceeds benefit the library

Breakfast served between 8am and 10am.

Whether you're a returning reader or brand-new to the challenge, this event has everything you need to start your summer reading journey. All activities (excluding breakfast) are free and open to all ages.
